Thousands of residents poured onto the streets of Kano on Saturday in a show of strong public support for Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, despite mounting political tension sparked by the recent defection of Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The governor received a rousing welcome as his convoy moved from Aminu Kano International Airport through Kofar Wambai and Kwari, extending to the Government House axis. Supporters lined the roads for hours, waving party flags and chanting solidarity songs, creating a festive, carnival-like atmosphere across the city.

Eyewitnesses described the reception as one of the largest public mobilisations in recent times, highlighting the governor’s sustained grassroots support even as Kano’s political terrain undergoes significant realignment.
