The Kano State Government has arrested three suspects over the alleged unauthorized demolition of the old Watari Bridge in Kumbotso Local Government Area.

The Commissioner for Lands and Physical Planning, Abduljabbar Umar, disclosed this during an unscheduled inspection of the demolition site. He said the suspects were apprehended while allegedly carrying out the demolition without government approval.

According to Umar, the bridge, which was constructed more than 50 years ago, has long served as a vital route for herders moving livestock and as a key link between residents of Rogo Local Government Area and neighboring communities.

The commissioner said the government has taken custody of the bulldozer used in the demolition and has launched a wider investigation to identify and apprehend other individuals connected to the incident.

He warned that anyone found culpable would face appropriate sanctions in accordance with the law.

Umar also called on members of the public to promptly report suspicious activities or any unauthorized developments to the government to enable timely investigation and necessary action.
