The Kano State Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Alhaji Adamu A. Kibiya, has received more than 100 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Tarai community in Kibiya Local Government Area who have defected to the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).
The development was confirmed in a statement issued by the Director of Public Enlightenment, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Balarabe Kiru, on Wednesday in Kano.
According to the statement, the defectors, led by the APC Woman Leader in Tarai, Hajiya Sabuwa Tarai, said they were motivated by the developmental achievements and people-oriented programmes of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration at both the local and state levels.
“We are impressed by the numerous projects executed by Governor Yusuf, which have brought positive changes to our communities,” Tarai said.
While welcoming the new members, Commissioner Kibiya assured them of equal treatment within the NNPP and urged them to contribute actively to the party’s growth and unity.
He commended their decision as a sign of growing confidence in the NNPP-led government and reaffirmed the party’s commitment to inclusive governance and grassroots development.
