Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to implementing people-oriented policies and projects aimed at improving the living conditions of residents across the state.

The governor made the pledge on Friday while receiving the 16th Emir of Kano, His Highness Muhammadu Sanusi II, during the traditional Sallah homage at the Government House in Kano.

Governor Yusuf congratulated Muslims on the successful Eid-el-Kabir celebrations, describing the festive season as a period of sacrifice, reflection, and unity among citizens.

He assured residents that his administration would remain focused on its “Kano First” agenda, which he said is designed to transform the state through strategic investments in critical sectors.

According to the governor, ongoing projects in road construction, education, healthcare, agriculture, and youth empowerment would be expanded to reach more communities across the state.

“We remain committed to policies and programmes that will directly improve the lives of our people. Our administration will continue to pursue the Kano First agenda relentlessly for the development of a modern Kano,” Yusuf stated.

The governor also called on traditional rulers to sustain their support for government efforts aimed at maintaining peace, unity, and development in the state.

In his remarks, Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II commended the Yusuf administration for what he described as visible achievements recorded within the last two years, particularly in infrastructure, agriculture, healthcare, and other key sectors.

The Emir, however, urged the governor to remain firm against individuals or groups seeking to destabilise the state or undermine constituted authority.

“If anybody dares your government, show them the power of authority. We cannot continue to tolerate people who want to create chaos and undermine the government,” the Emir said.

Sanusi added that Islamic teachings support responsible leadership and the protection of law and order.

“The Qur’an teaches that leaders should stand for their people, and you have demonstrated commitment to the people of Kano. It also says those who attempt to undermine lawful authority should be decisively dealt with,” he added.

The monarch further pledged his support for the administration, stressing that the success of the government would translate into collective progress for the people of Kano State.

“Your success is our success because we are from the same family. If your government succeeds in fulfilling its goals, it is a collective achievement for all of us,” Sanusi stated.

Emir Sanusi also appealed to the Federal Government to support strategic developmental projects in Kano, including the proposed light rail system, noting that the business community had consistently advocated for federal intervention.

The traditional Sallah homage was attended by senior government officials, traditional title holders, businessmen, and other dignitaries.
