The African Democratic Congress Presidential Campaign Council (ADC-PCC) has urged Nigerian youths to reject President Bola Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 presidential election, accusing the administration of failing to address unemployment, poverty and the rising cost of living.

The council said Nigerian youths, who constitute a significant proportion of the country’s population, deserved leadership capable of providing practical solutions to their economic challenges and creating better opportunities for the future.

The Director of Media and Publicity of the ADC-PCC, Kola Ologbondiyan, made the call during an interaction with ADC youth leaders in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State at the weekend.

Ologbondiyan warned that re-electing Tinubu for a second term would be a political mistake, arguing that young Nigerians had borne the brunt of the economic difficulties associated with the APC-led administration.

According to him, after years under the APC government, many Nigerian graduates remain unable to secure decent employment, forcing some to resort to petty trading, recharge card sales and point-of-sale (POS) businesses to survive.

“As youths, you have spent almost 12 years under the APC government confronting difficult economic circumstances, with many graduates struggling to find decent employment.

“For far too many, the available options have been petty trading, recharge card sales and operating point-of-sale, POS, businesses simply to survive,” he said.

ADC-PCC Questions Petrol Price Relief

The ADC-PCC spokesman also criticised the Tinubu administration over its reported petrol price discount, questioning whether the purported relief had translated into lower pump prices for consumers.

He claimed that despite government announcements suggesting that petrol prices would fall to N1,350 per litre, consumers in many areas were still paying more than N1,400 per litre.

“Check the filling stations in your neighbourhood, and you will discover that Nigerians are still paying above N1,400 per litre. What, then, is the reality behind this so-called discount?” he queried.

Ologbondiyan argued that the reported discount had failed to provide meaningful relief to ordinary Nigerians, who continue to contend with high transportation costs, rising business expenses and the increasing cost of essential goods and services.

He said government announcements about economic relief should be matched by tangible improvements in the daily lives of citizens.

“No Nigerian should be asked to celebrate a discount that exists only in government announcements while the reality at the filling stations tells a different story,” he said.

He added that Nigerians needed practical measures to ease economic hardship rather than what he described as publicity-driven interventions.

According to him, persistent reports of high petrol prices and queues at filling stations underscore the difficulties consumers face in accessing the product and meeting their daily needs.

‘Nigerians Deserve More Than Promises’

The ADC-PCC spokesman accused the APC administration of making promises that had yet to produce sufficient improvements in the living conditions of millions of Nigerians.

He argued that rising living costs and economic uncertainty had intensified the need for policies that directly address the concerns of ordinary citizens.

“This government will always announce one phantom relief or another, but the reality on the ground remains different. Token measures cannot resolve the hunger and hardship Nigerians are experiencing.

“After years in government, Nigerians deserve more than promises, excuses and propaganda. They deserve policies that work and leadership that understands their pain,” Ologbondiyan stated.

He urged young Nigerians to reconsider their political allegiance and support candidates who, according to him, had presented practical proposals for improving living standards and addressing the country’s economic challenges.

ADC-PCC Campaigns for Atiku-Amaechi Ticket

Ologbondiyan called on ADC supporters and youth leaders to mobilise across their wards and communities to promote the party’s presidential ticket of Atiku Abubakar and his running mate, Rotimi Amaechi.

He said the ticket would prioritise transparency, accountability and policies aimed at reducing the economic burden on Nigerians.

“You cannot continue to vote for a party that has failed to demonstrate a clear commitment to your future. The time has come to support a candidate who has proposed practical measures to make life affordable for Nigerians.

“Go to your various wards and take the message of affordable living to the people. Tell Nigerians that an alternative is available through our presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and his running mate, Rotimi Amaechi,” he said.

The ADC-PCC spokesman expressed confidence that an Atiku-led administration would adopt a more transparent and people-oriented approach to managing the petroleum sector and addressing broader economic concerns.

“Atiku Abubakar understands the pain Nigerians are going through. His approach will be guided by transparency, accountability and the need to ease the burden on ordinary citizens,” he said.

Ologbondiyan urged Nigerian youths to scrutinise the APC government’s record and evaluate presidential candidates based on their policies, performance and commitment to national development.

He called on young Nigerians to mobilise support for the ADC ahead of the 2027 election, describing the Atiku-Amaechi ticket as an alternative to the economic hardship and uncertainty facing the country.
