Gov. Yusuf Assures Tinubu of Northern Support for 2027 Re-election, Says Kano Will Lead Victory

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has assured President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of massive support from Northern Nigeria ahead of the 2027 general elections, expressing confidence that Kano State will play a leading role in securing victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Governor Yusuf gave the assurance on Saturday in Abuja during the inauguration of the Arewa for Asiwaju (A4A) campaign office, a political initiative established to mobilise support for President Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima across Northern Nigeria.

The Governor expressed optimism that the North would rally behind President Tinubu’s second-term ambition, reaffirming his commitment to the President’s re-election bid.

He described Kano State as a strategic political stronghold in Northern Nigeria, noting that its substantial voting population would be instrumental in the APC’s electoral success in 2027.

“Kano, as the leading state with the highest number of votes in Northern Nigeria, will, In Sha Allah, lead all Nigerian states to victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, with a massive turnout in favour of the APC,” the Governor said.

Governor Yusuf also expressed confidence that the A4A movement would strengthen political mobilisation, deepen engagement with voters and coordinate support for the President across the region ahead of the forthcoming elections.

Speaking at the event, Vice President Kashim Shettima said Northern Nigeria had demonstrated its support for President Tinubu, while emphasising that political backing must be accompanied by accountability, effective governance and tangible improvements in the lives of citizens.

Shettima acknowledged the economic difficulties confronting Nigerians and stressed the importance of ensuring that the administration remained responsive to the concerns and aspirations of the people.

He further highlighted the need to prioritise security, education, poverty reduction and the creation of economic opportunities as essential components of good governance.

The Arewa for Asiwaju movement is designed to coordinate and strengthen support for President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima across the 19 Northern states and the Federal Capital Territory ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Former Minister of Defence, His Excellency Badaru Abubakar, serves as the movement’s National Coordinator.

The inauguration of the campaign office marks another step in the political mobilisation efforts of supporters of the Tinubu administration as preparations and consultations ahead of the 2027 general elections continue.
