The Chairman of the APC House of Representatives Electoral Committee and Returning Officer, Danlami Abubakar, announced the results of the primaries held in various federal constituencies and senatorial districts in Minna.
In the Agaie/Lapai Federal Constituency, the incumbent lawmaker, Abdullahi Mahmud, secured victory with 12,806 votes, defeating Sadiq Mustapha, who polled 438 votes.
For the Suleja/Gurara/Tafa Federal Constituency, Adamu Tanko emerged winner after scoring 13,976 votes against Arafat Haruna’s 1,331 votes.
Similarly, in the Shiroro/Rafi/Munya Federal Constituency, Ismaila Modibo won the party’s ticket with 16,044 votes, defeating Saidu Umar, who garnered 1,712 votes.
Adamu Abubakar, younger brother of former Head of State, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar, clinched the Chanchaga Federal Constituency ticket after polling 3,650 votes to beat Nma Ahmed, who secured 1,271 votes.
Other federal constituency candidates who emerged through consensus include incumbent lawmakers Abdullahi Idris-Garba for Kontagora/Wushishi/Mariga/Mashegu, Saidu Musa Abdullahi for Bida/Gbako/Katcha, and Jafaru Mohammed for Agwara/Borgu.
Also returned unopposed through consensus were Adamu Usman for Lavun/Mokwa/Edati Federal Constituency and Mohammed Yakubu for Magama/Rijau Federal Constituency.
Abubakar disclosed that results for the Bosso/Paikoro Federal Constituency were still being collated at the time of filing this report.
In the Senate primaries, Senator Mohammed Sani Musa emerged as the consensus candidate for Niger East Senatorial District, while Senator Abubakar Sani Bello was returned unopposed for Niger North.
For Niger South Senatorial District, Mohammed Sani Idris won the ticket with 68,116 votes, defeating Rabiu Sadiq, who polled 4,589 votes.
The returning officer commended Governor Bago and the Niger State Government for providing support that ensured the smooth conduct of the exercise.
He attributed delays in announcing some results to the late collation process caused by the large geographical spread of the state.
Reacting to the outcome of the primaries, Governor Bago urged all victorious candidates to be magnanimous in victory and reconcile with opponents and other aspirants who either contested or stepped down during the process.
He emphasized that unity and teamwork remained critical to strengthening the APC ahead of the general elections, while also appreciating the electoral committee and party stakeholders for conducting what he described as a successful exercise.
The governor further commended aspirants who embraced the consensus arrangement, noting that their cooperation helped ease the task of the committee and contributed to a peaceful process.
The statement was signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Niger State, Bologi Ibrahim.
