The political landscape in Sokoto State witnessed a renewed display of unity and confidence within the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the party’s leader in the state, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, publicly commended Governor Ahmad Aliyu for his people-centered leadership and commitment to development.

Wamakko gave the commendation during the formal affirmation of Governor Ahmad Aliyu as the APC governorship candidate for the 2027 general elections.

The event, held at the APC State Secretariat in Sokoto, attracted party leaders, stakeholders, and supporters who gathered to reaffirm solidarity and strengthen internal cohesion ahead of future political contests.

Addressing party members at the gathering, Wamakko described Governor Aliyu as a loyal and committed party leader whose dedication has continued to strengthen confidence among APC members across the state.

He praised the governor’s administration for sustaining developmental projects and improving access to critical services, particularly in infrastructure and community development.

According to Wamakko, Governor Aliyu’s approach to governance reflects a clear focus on the welfare of ordinary citizens and equitable distribution of development across Sokoto State.

The former governor also noted that the growing support for the administration stems from deliberate efforts by the governor to promote inclusiveness, transparency, and unity within the party and government.

Wamakko further commended APC stakeholders for maintaining discipline and cooperation, describing the consensus that produced Governor Aliyu’s candidacy as a sign of political maturity and stability within the party.

He stressed that unity among party members remains essential for sustaining political stability and delivering continued progress to the people of Sokoto State.

Reflecting on developments after the 2023 general elections, Wamakko said the defections experienced by the APC ultimately strengthened the party rather than weakened it.

According to him, the political realignments provided an opportunity for the party to rebuild trust, reorganize its structure, and consolidate its grassroots support base ahead of the 2027 elections.

“What initially appeared to be a setback later became a blessing in disguise, as the party emerged stronger and more united,” he stated.

Wamakko expressed confidence that the APC is well-positioned to secure victory at all levels in the 2027 general elections if members remain committed to the party’s ideals and united in purpose.

He urged party supporters to continue backing the administration’s development agenda and to work closely with government institutions to sustain progress across the state.

The event ended on an optimistic note, with party stakeholders reaffirming their commitment to strengthening the APC’s political structure and advancing governance for the benefit of the people of Sokoto State.
