Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has received a major political boost ahead of the 2027 general elections as stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State endorsed him for a second term in office.

The endorsement took place during a large stakeholders’ gathering held on Thursday at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kofar Mata, Kano.

According to a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, party leaders and supporters unanimously expressed confidence in Governor Yusuf’s leadership and administration.

The stakeholders described the governor’s leadership as “people-oriented, inclusive and performance-driven,” noting that his administration had recorded significant achievements in education, healthcare, infrastructure, water supply and youth empowerment.

They said the endorsement followed extensive consultations among party leaders aimed at strengthening unity and ensuring continuity of development projects across the state.
Speaking at the event, Governor Yusuf expressed appreciation for the endorsement and pledged to remain committed to improving the lives of Kano residents.

“I am deeply honoured by this show of confidence and support from party leaders and stakeholders,” the governor said. “This endorsement will further motivate us to continue delivering democratic dividends to the good people of Kano State.”

He also called on party members to remain united ahead of the 2027 elections.

“We must continue to work together in peace, unity and cooperation to strengthen our party and move Kano State forward,” Yusuf added.

Earlier, Chairman of the APC Primary Election Committee and former Deputy Governor of Sokoto State, Barrister Muntari Shagari, praised the massive turnout of party faithful at the gathering.

“I am highly impressed by the overwhelming support shown by party members here today,” Shagari said.

The motion endorsing Governor Yusuf for a second term was moved by Deputy Senate President Senator Barau Jibrin and seconded by Senator Suleiman Abdurrahman Kawu Sumaila.
