Senator Mohammed Sani Musa has emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Niger East Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general elections following the disqualification of his main challenger by the party’s screening committee.

Barrister Bello Bawa Bwari (popularly known as BBB) was not cleared by the APC electoral committee to participate in the senatorial primary, leaving Senator Musa as the sole aspirant for the ticket.

Party officials disclosed that the decision was reached after the committee reviewed the eligibility of all aspirants in accordance with the APC constitution and provisions of the Electoral Act 2022.

The officials also clarified that no consensus arrangement was adopted in selecting the party’s candidate for the district.

Political stakeholders within the district attributed Senator Musa’s emergence to his widespread political structure across the nine local government areas of Niger East, as well as his performance since assuming office in 2019.

The lawmaker has been credited with several interventions in healthcare, education, agriculture, infrastructure, and empowerment programmes for youths and women across the district.

Through his scholarship initiative, hundreds of students from Niger East are reportedly studying in tertiary institutions within Nigeria and abroad.

Senator Musa has also facilitated the construction and equipping of hospitals, supported the development of township roads, and provided tractors and farming implements to farmers to improve mechanised agriculture and food security.

In the area of security, the senator has offered logistical support and other assistance to security agencies operating within the district.

Residents who spoke on his performance described him as accessible, responsive, and committed to the welfare of his constituents.

A resident of Suleja, Malam Mohammad Usman, said his son was currently studying medicine abroad through the senator’s scholarship programme.

“We have had senators before, but they did not represent us effectively.

This time is different. I have my Permanent Voter’s Card and I am ready to vote for the APC and all its candidates,” he said.

Similarly, Alhaji Abba Mohammad from Paikoro expressed confidence in the senator’s leadership, saying constituents were prepared to mobilise support for APC candidates in future elections.

“He has delivered in every ramification, and we believe he will do even more,” he stated.

Also speaking, Hajiya Zainab Abu of Kagara said women across the district would come out in large numbers to support Senator Musa, whom she described as a sincere leader committed to the welfare of ordinary people.
