2027: APC Affirms Senator Barau as Kano North Candidate Amid Massive Support Rally

The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has been officially affirmed as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Kano North Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The affirmation exercise was held at the APC headquarters in Bichi Local Government Area, attracting thousands of party supporters from the 13 local government areas that make up the senatorial district.

Officials from the APC national headquarters and representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) were also present to monitor the exercise.

At about 2:20 p.m., the Chairman of the APC Electoral Committee for the Kano North Senatorial Primary Election, Hon. Shehu Isa Direba, asked party members to affirm Senator Barau as the party’s candidate. The request was met with a resounding “Yes” from party faithful at the venue.

Similarly, the Chairman of the APC National Assembly Primary Elections Committee for Kano State, Hon. Musa Yahaya, sought the endorsement of delegates, who unanimously backed Senator Barau for the January 16 National Assembly election.

Speaking after the exercise, the leader of the INEC monitoring team, Abdulrahman Haruna, expressed satisfaction with the peaceful and orderly conduct of the process.

Kano State Governor, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, also commended the peaceful atmosphere during the exercise.

Represented by the Deputy Governor, Hon. Murtala Sule Garo, the governor expressed confidence that APC would record a sweeping victory in Kano North during the 2027 general elections.

“We are happy. Kano North has always been APC territory. We are one united family in APC. By the grace of Allah, before noon on election day, Senator Barau will secure victory, while President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all APC candidates will emerge victorious,” he said.

In his acceptance remarks, Senator Barau thanked party members for the overwhelming confidence reposed in him and pledged to continue delivering effective representation for the people of Kano North.

He also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his leadership of the country and the APC, describing his administration as beneficial to Northern Nigeria.

“I want to thank Almighty Allah for this opportunity and appreciate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his leadership. He is doing extremely well for the nation and for Northern Nigeria,” Barau stated.

The senator equally praised Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for what he described as efforts to reposition Kano State for greater development.

Barau urged the people of Kano State to remain steadfast in their support for the APC and vote massively for all the party’s candidates in the 2027 elections.

“Let us continue to support President Tinubu and the APC at all levels. By doing so, we will sustain the developmental projects and benefits coming from the federal, state, and local governments,” he said.

The event concluded peacefully, with party supporters expressing optimism about APC’s chances in the forthcoming elections.
