Kano Govt Reaffirms Commitment to Education, Secures N23bn for 49 New Schools

The Kano State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to partnering with the Federal Government and development agencies to improve education across the state.

Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf stated this during a courtesy visit by the Minister of State for Education, Professor Suwaiba Sa’id Ahmed, at the Government House in Kano.

According to a statement issued by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mustapha Muhammad, Governor Yusuf pledged continued support for initiatives aimed at strengthening the education sector.

“We will continue to collaborate and support every effort geared towards developing education in Kano State,” the governor said.

He described the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) project as a major driver of educational progress in the state, particularly through infrastructural development and teacher support.

Earlier, Professor Suwaiba Sa’id Ahmed disclosed that Kano State had secured a World Bank “No Objection” approval for the construction of 49 new schools valued at N23 billion.

She noted that contractors had already been mobilised to begin work on the projects, which are expected to improve access to education in underserved communities across the state.

The minister also commended the Kano State Government for the quality of ongoing school projects, citing schools she visited during her tour. She urged the AGILE project team to adopt the state government’s standards in project execution.
