The Kano State Police Command has officially commenced activities marking the 2026 National Police Day, with a strong focus on community engagement under the theme, “Community Partnership: Building Trust.”
The Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, led the kickoff events, which began with a sanitation exercise and a Town Hall meeting held at Fagge Quarters in Kano.

The initiative continued with a medical outreach at Dakata Quarters, where residents benefitted from a range of free healthcare services.
The outreach featured free medical consultations, laboratory tests, counseling sessions, and distribution of medications.
Health experts also delivered lectures on critical issues such as high blood pressure, drug abuse, general body care, dental hygiene, and the dangers of self-medication.
In a related development, the Chairperson of the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA), Hajia Hadiza Abubakar Bakori, spearheaded a tree-planting exercise at the Bompai Police Headquarters. She highlighted the importance of environmental sustainability and encouraged women to take advantage of the health outreach to prioritize their wellbeing.
As part of the ongoing celebrations, the Command has lined up several activities aimed at strengthening police-community relations.
These include a walkathon, a live radio programme at Dala FM Kano, interactive sessions with students and staff of North-West University, a novelty football match, and a roundtable discussion with Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and Community Liaison Officers (CLOs).
The grand finale of the National Police Day celebration is scheduled to hold on April 7, 2026, at the Eagle Square Parade Ground in Abuja.
The Commissioner of Police has called on stakeholders, community leaders, and the general public to actively participate in the activities, emphasizing the collective role in building a safer and more secure society.
