Kano Pilgrims Board to Introduce LGA-Level Medical Screening for 2027 Hajj

The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board will introduce medical screening at the Local Government Area (LGA) level ahead of the 2027 Hajj, in a move aimed at making the process more accessible to intending pilgrims across the state.

The Director-General of the Board, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Matawalle, disclosed this on Tuesday during Fitila, a one-hour programme aired on Radio Kano.

Matawalle said the outreach medical screening programme would particularly benefit intending pilgrims in rural communities who may face difficulties travelling to designated centres for medical checks.

He added that the Board would introduce additional arrangements for the 2027 Hajj once all intending pilgrims had been successfully uploaded to the relevant server.

The Director-General also issued a final reminder to intending pilgrims who have yet to submit their international passports to do so on or before 31 August 2026.

He stressed that there would be no extension of the deadline for the submission and uploading of international passports, urging all affected pilgrims to meet the deadline to avoid complications in the Hajj preparations.

Matawalle expressed appreciation to the Kano State Government, under the leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, for its continued support and commitment to the welfare of pilgrims from the state.
