The Kano State Drugs and Medical Consumables Supply Agency (DMCSA) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening public health delivery through strategic partnerships, as it engaged the Muslim Professionals in Da’awah (MPD) during an advocacy visit in Kano.
The Director General of the Agency, Pharm. Gali Sule, received the executive members of the association on Monday, April 20, 2026, where he highlighted significant reforms and achievements recorded under his leadership.
Pharm. Sule disclosed that the Agency has recorded a remarkable financial recovery, moving from a negative capital base of ₦102 million to over ₦600 million as of March 2026. He added that the Agency also cleared an inherited debt of ₦1.178 billion, while achieving a 40 percent reduction in the cost of government-supplied drugs compared to prevailing market prices.
On operational improvements, the DG revealed that drug availability in public health facilities has increased from 30 percent to over 90 percent. He further noted ongoing efforts to enhance infrastructure, including the construction of a pharmaceutical-grade warehouse and a quality control laboratory.
According to him, the introduction of an Integrated Last-Mile Delivery system has strengthened distribution efficiency, while quarterly performance reviews and stock audits have been institutionalised to promote transparency and accountability.
Pharm. Sule commended the MPD delegation for its dedication to societal development, emphasizing the Agency’s readiness to collaborate with credible stakeholders to improve access to safe, effective, and affordable medicines across Kano State. He noted that these efforts align with the healthcare priorities of the state government under Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
Earlier, the leader of the delegation and State Amir of MPD, Alhaji Saleh Kwaru, said the visit aimed to deepen collaboration with the Agency in promoting ethical standards, public health awareness, and community engagement.
He reaffirmed the association’s commitment to supporting government institutions through initiatives that combine professional expertise with faith-based values.
The meeting ended with both parties expressing readiness to explore sustainable partnerships for the overall benefit of the public.
