Eid-el-Kabir: Gov Aliyu Urges Muslims to Share Sacrificial Meat With Vulnerable Groups

Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State has called on Muslims across the state to extend kindness and support to vulnerable groups during the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations by sharing sacrificial meat and showing compassion to those in need.

The governor made the appeal in his Eid-el-Kabir message to residents of the state, stressing the importance of caring for the less privileged in line with Islamic teachings and the spirit of the festive season.

According to him, although the state government has already distributed sacrificial animals to vulnerable persons, individuals who can afford to slaughter animals during the celebration should also remember widows, orphans, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and persons living with disabilities in their communities.

Governor Aliyu said sharing meat with vulnerable people would not only attract divine rewards from Almighty Allah but also promote unity, inclusion, and social harmony among citizens.

“During Eid festivities, we are encouraged to show love and care for one another, especially our neighbours,” the governor stated.

He further reminded Muslims that Islam clearly outlines a sharing formula for sacrificial meat, urging them to strictly observe the practice in the interest of humanity and social welfare.

The governor encouraged wealthy individuals to emulate the government’s efforts by supporting the needy and other disadvantaged groups, particularly during the festive period.

He disclosed that the Sokoto State Government spends huge sums annually to support Muslim clerics, vulnerable persons, IDPs, and people living with disabilities to enable them celebrate Eid-el-Kabir comfortably.

“As Muslims, we must continue to support one another, especially during periods of need and celebration,” he added.

Governor Aliyu also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving the welfare and security of residents across the state.

He urged worshippers to use the Eid prayer sessions to pray for lasting peace and an end to insecurity and banditry affecting some parts of Sokoto State and the country at large.

The governor further appealed to Nigerian pilgrims currently in Saudi Arabia for Hajj to pray for peace, stability, and progress in Nigeria.
