The Kano State Police Command has arrested a notorious criminal gang leader and several members of his syndicate following complaints from residents of Bachirawa and surrounding communities.
On 5 January 2026, the Command received a petition from the Hannu Da Yawa Youth Development Association Bachirawa (HADAYA) over rising criminal activities in Bachirawa, Kurna, Rijiyar Lemo, Zango, Kunture, and nearby areas. The petition alleged that a gang led by one Dawa Dan Kamsusi was involved in armed robbery, shop and house breaking, theft, drug trafficking, and the destruction of vigilante facilities, causing widespread fear and public outcry.

In response, the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, sfipma, mnim, mnips, ordered the Anti-Daba Unit to immediately investigate and apprehend those responsible. Acting on intelligence-led operations, the police swung into action with determination.
These efforts led to the arrest of the prime suspect, Sunusi Dawa Kamsusi, male, aged 26, of Bachirawa Quarters, Kano. Three knives and a suspected charm were recovered from him. Nine other members of the criminal syndicate were also tracked and arrested.
During interrogation, the suspect confessed to multiple crimes including armed robbery, mobile phone snatching, shop and house breaking, and theft. So far, thirty (30) victims have lodged formal complaints against the suspects. They will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
The Commissioner of Police commended the officers involved in the operation and expressed appreciation to community members for their cooperation and timely information, which greatly contributed to the success of the operation.
