Kano Police Commissioner Moves to Restore Peace After Inter-Community Clash

The Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, on Friday convened an emergency stakeholders’ meeting at the Bompai Police Headquarters to address the recent clash involving youths from Gude Village in Kabo Local Government Area and Sabon Gidan Dan Amale in Gwarzo Local Government Area.

According to Police Public Relations Officer,CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa,the high-level engagement was aimed at restoring peace, preventing further violence, and strengthening long-term coexistence between the two neighbouring communities.

The meeting brought together key traditional rulers, political representatives, community leaders, and security officials from the affected areas.

Among those in attendance were representatives of the Chairmen of Kabo and Gwarzo Local Government Areas, the Chairman of Miyetti Allah in Kabo LGA, representatives of the District Head of Kabo and the Village Head of Gude, the Village Head of Marori, community development stakeholders, as well as the Divisional Police Officers of Gwarzo and Kabo divisions.

Speaking during the meeting, CP Bakori called on all parties to exercise restraint and maintain calm, stressing that the Kano State Police Command would not tolerate any further breakdown of law and order or acts of retaliation.

The Police Commissioner disclosed that a comprehensive investigation into the incident has commenced, assuring stakeholders that anyone found responsible for instigating or participating in the violence would be prosecuted in accordance with the law.

“The Command remains committed to ensuring justice is served and lasting peace is restored in the affected communities,” he stated.

In their separate remarks, stakeholders commended the Commissioner of Police for his swift intervention and proactive approach to conflict resolution.

Representatives of both Gude and Sabon Gidan Dan Amale communities pledged to work towards sustaining peace and preventing a recurrence of the clash.

They also assured the Police Command that community members, particularly youths, would be sensitized against engaging in violence or any form of provocation.

The stakeholders further expressed appreciation to the Kano State Police Command for addressing concerns over possible reprisal attacks and praised officers of the Gwarzo and Kabo Divisions for their prompt response in containing the situation and preventing further escalation.

The Kano State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state and urged residents to remain law-abiding and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
