The Kano State Government has intensified its statewide project monitoring and evaluation exercise, with the Commissioner for Public Procurement, Projects Monitoring and Evaluation (MPPPME), Comrade Nura Ma’aji Sumaila, leading inspections of key infrastructure projects across the state.

The latest round of inspections came barely 24 hours after the Commissioner assessed the ongoing construction of the Dansoshiya Dam and irrigation infrastructure in Dansoshiya, Kiru Local Government Area.

The monitoring team visited the Bagauda Dam and the Tiga Film Academy, two strategic government investments aimed at strengthening water resources management and advancing the state’s creative economy.

During the visits, Comrade Ma’aji Sumaila evaluated the condition of facilities, identified maintenance requirements, and assessed the projects’ contributions to tourism development, irrigation expansion, potable water supply, and agricultural productivity in surrounding communities.

He reaffirmed the commitment of the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to ensuring that public infrastructure is properly managed, sustainably maintained, and aligned with its intended developmental objectives.

At the Tiga Film Academy, the monitoring team expressed satisfaction with the level of progress recorded on the project. The academy, regarded as a flagship initiative, is designed to nurture talent and strengthen Kano State’s growing creative and film industry.

The Commissioner assessed the readiness of the academy’s infrastructure and highlighted its potential to empower young people through skills acquisition, job creation, and cultural promotion.

The inspection tour also covered major health sector projects, including the upgrade of the General Hospital project at the Garun Malam Primary Health Care facility and the ongoing renovation of Bebeji General Hospital.

While commending the progress achieved at the Garun Malam project site, Comrade Ma’aji Sumaila emphasized the need for strict adherence to contractual specifications. He also directed that corrective measures be taken to address concerns observed during the inspection of the Bebeji General Hospital renovation project.

In the education sector, the team inspected several projects in Garun Malam and Bebeji Local Government Areas, including four major intervention components at Samawa Ciki Primary School and Daka Soye Special Primary School.

Other projects monitored during the exercise included the renovation of Shari’a Courts, the upgrading of Neighborhood Security Watch offices, and the fencing of graveyards across the two local government areas.

Speaking at the end of the tour, the Commissioner reiterated that the Ministry’s statewide assessment exercise is aimed at promoting accountability in public spending, improving project execution standards, and ensuring that government investments deliver meaningful and lasting benefits to the people of Kano State.
