The All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS), Kano State Chapter, has commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for sponsoring a three-day capacity-building workshop aimed at strengthening the leadership and administrative skills of secondary school principals across the state.
The training programme, described as timely and impactful, focused on key areas including anti-corruption practices, financial discipline, transformational leadership, and workplace ethics. It was designed to enhance professionalism and promote best practices among school administrators within the Kano State civil service.
Speaking on behalf of the association, the State President of ANCOPSS, Comrade Hajiya Uwani Ahmed Balarabe, praised the governor’s commitment to improving educational standards.
She noted that the initiative represents a significant milestone in repositioning the education sector and equipping school leaders with the tools required for effective management.
Balarabe highlighted that Governor Yusuf is the first in the state to organize such a comprehensive training programme for all secondary school principals, particularly with strong emphasis on ethical conduct and prudent financial management.
According to her, the initiative reflects the administration’s resolve to improve learning outcomes across Kano State.
She further disclosed that participants enjoyed adequate welfare support during the workshop held in Kaduna State, including quality accommodation, feeding, and healthcare services. She expressed confidence that the knowledge gained would contribute significantly to revitalizing the state’s education system.
The workshop, held from March 26 to March 28, 2026, marks the first phase of a four-part programme, with subsequent phases to follow.
Balarabe urged participants to share the knowledge acquired with other school administrators, especially vice principals, to ensure broader impact.
ANCOPSS also appreciated government officials and participants for their contributions, describing the initiative as a major step toward strengthening institutional leadership and accountability in the education sector.
