Amina Umar Namadi Launches Massive Ramadan Food Drive, Reaches Thousands of Vulnerable Residents in Jigawa State

The Wife of the Umar Namadi of Jigawa State, Amina Umar Namadi, has launched a large-scale Ramadan food distribution programme targeting thousands of vulnerable residents across the state.

The initiative, tagged Ramadan Care and Support Initiative with the theme “Compassion in Action,” was held at the Government House in Dutse and organised in collaboration with the Hamdan Kasiran OVC and Women Assistant Foundation.

Speaking during the launch, Ambassador Namadi said the intervention was designed to cushion the economic hardship faced by less privileged families as Muslims prepare for the holy month of Ramadan.
“This initiative is about compassion in action.

We understand the challenges many families are facing, especially at this critical period. Ramadan teaches us sacrifice, generosity, and care for one another,” she said.

She explained that the distribution of food items would reach vulnerable groups in communities across the nooks and crannies of the state.

“We must continue to support one another, especially during Ramadan. I call on well-meaning individuals and organisations to extend similar gestures to those in need, not only during the fasting period but beyond,” she added.

In her opening remarks, Hajiya Salma Wakili described the intervention as timely and impactful, noting that food items had already been distributed to several communities across the state.

“This support has come at the right time and will go a long way in easing the burden on many households,” she said.

She also urged residents, particularly women, to revalidate their voter registration cards and continue supporting Governor Umar Namadi and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Also speaking, Hajiya Hadiza Aminu A.K., wife of the State Commissioner of Commerce, commended the First Lady for sustaining humanitarian programmes that have positively impacted widows, orphans, and other disadvantaged groups.

Hajiya Zainab Sani Gumel, wife of the State Deputy Speaker, described Ambassador Namadi as a philanthropist deeply committed to the welfare of Jigawa citizens.

“Her dedication to humanitarian service has brought hope to many families. We must continue to support policies and programmes that promote development across our state,” she stated.

Some beneficiaries, including Hadiza Bala and Audu Shehu, expressed gratitude for what they described as a timely intervention.

“This support will help my family prepare for Ramadan without worry,” Hadiza Bala said.

“We are grateful for this gesture. It has reduced the pressure of providing food during the fasting period,” Audu Shehu added.

The ceremony drew a broad spectrum of stakeholders from across the state, underscoring widespread support for the initiative. With thousands of less privileged residents benefiting, the Ramadan Care and Support Initiative reflects a renewed spirit of compassion and collective responsibility as the holy month approaches.
