The Hadejia-Jam’are River Basin Development Authority (HJRBDA) has announced plans to address severe erosion affecting irrigation activities in Jahun Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
Managing Director of the Authority, Alhaji Rabiu Suleiman Bichi, disclosed this in an interview on Friday in Kano, shortly after inspecting erosion-prone locations in the community.
Bichi led a team of engineers on a detailed assessment tour to evaluate the extent of the damage and design sustainable solutions. He explained that the Authority is set to construct proper drainage channels and implement professional erosion-control measures to restore and enhance irrigation farming in the area.
During the visit, the team also inspected gully-erosion sites to determine the most effective intervention strategies.
The Managing Director reaffirmed the commitment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to strengthening food security and improving agricultural productivity across the country.
