Private Radio station takes 40 out -of – school children back to school in Kano

Himma Radio TV, a private radio station in Madobi Local Government area of Kano state has taken 40 out-of-school children back to school.

Speaking at the launch of the initiative, the General Manager of the station, Alhaji Isma’il Yusuf Makwarari said it is part of the Corporate Social Responsibility, CRS, to support the host community.

According to Makwarari, when he came on board as the GM, he noticed high number of out-of-school children in the community and vowed to support them in the area of education.

He explained that out of the 40 children, 13 are boys while 26 are girls.

“We have provided school uniforms, books, bags, pencils, sharpness and other learning materials.

“We initiated this programme for the sake of God and to contribute to the development of our community.”

He added that the station plans to expand the initiative to all 44 local government areas of Kano State and appreciated everyone who attended the event, saying,

“We thank you all for honouring our invitation and supporting this noble cause.”

In his part, the Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has commended Himma Radio Kano for enrolling 40 out-of-school children in Madobi Local Government Area.

He made the commendation during the flag-off ceremony of the enrollment programme, which was sponsored by Himma Radio TV Kano.

The Governor, who was represented by his Special Adviser on Corporate Social Responsibility, Dr. Sale Musa Wailare, said, “As you are all aware, education is a top priority of our administration. That is why our government allocates a huge amount of money to the education sector in the state budget.”

He further noted that individuals and organizations must also contribute to supporting education, as the government alone cannot handle all the challenges. He added that initiatives like that of Himma Radio TV Kano play a vital role in achieving educational development.

In his address, the Chairman of the Kano State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), represented by the Director of Mobilization, Balarabe Dallami Jazuli, expressed his satisfaction with the initiative and urged other organizations to emulate Himma Radio’s effort.

He said, “I would like to say that these 40 children are more than 40, because only God knows what they will become in the future.”

In his remarks, the District Head of Madobi, Alhaji Sale Musa Sale, described the initiative as a major step toward addressing the problems facing the younger generation.

He said, “We welcome this idea and are ever ready to support the success of this remarkable development.”

Also speaking, the Vice Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano, Professor Haruna Musa, emphasized the need to support education at all levels.

He said, “When we look at Nigeria’s population, most of whom are under the age of eighteen and in need of quality education, it becomes necessary for all of us to come together and contribute to educational development. Our university’s doors are always open to support the education of younger generations, especially those in rural areas.”
