Police Foil Kidnap Attempt, Rescue Sarkin Noman Kano in Kano

The Kano State Police Command has foiled a kidnapping attempt in Garun Mallam Town, Garun Mallam Local Government Area, rescuing the Sarkin Noman Kano, Alhaji Yusif Nadabo, from his abductors.

The incident occurred at about 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2026, when suspected bandits stormed the community and began shooting sporadically into the air, according to the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa.

During the attack, the hoodlums abducted Nadabo and shot three residents Yusif Nasiru, 20; Salisu Garba, 20; and Ibrahim Hassan, 20.

Following a distress call, the Kano State Police Command immediately mobilised tactical and patrol teams to the area, with reinforcements drawn from neighbouring police divisions.

The police, working alongside members of the local community, pursued the fleeing kidnappers, forcing them to abandon their victim and escape.
Nadabo was subsequently rescued unhurt.

The three injured residents, alongside the rescued victim, were taken to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital for medical attention.

The Police Command said it has deployed additional confidence-building patrols within and around Garun Mallam Town to prevent further attacks and maintain peace in the area.

A manhunt has also been launched for the fleeing suspects, while investigation into the incident is ongoing.

The Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, commended the police teams for their prompt response and praised residents, vigilante groups and members of the Neighborhood Watch Corps for their vigilance, courage and cooperation during the rescue operation.

The Commissioner urged residents to remain calm and continue to provide credible information that could assist security agencies in apprehending the suspects.

The Command reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property across Kano State.
