Seven Kidnap Victims Rescued in Kwara
The Kwara State Police Command has announced the successful rescue of seven kidnapped victims during a joint security operation in a forest near Owa-Onire community.
According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejinre-Adeyemi, the operation was carried out by security operatives attached to the Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA), in collaboration with police personnel and local vigilantes.
The rescue mission reportedly met stiff resistance from the kidnappers, resulting in a gun battle.
The kidnappers eventually fled deeper into the forest, abandoning their victims, who were all rescued unharmed.One vigilante member sustained a gunshot injury during the exchange and is currently receiving medical treatment.Items recovered from the criminals’ hideout include three motorcycles and nine empty AK-47 rifle magazines.
The police said the rescued victims have been debriefed and reunited with their families.Residents are urged to remain vigilant and provide timely, credible information to security agencies to support ongoing efforts to combat crime in the area.
