Governor Abba Yusuf Bags Multiple Awards for Leadership, Socio-Economic Development in Kano

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has received multiple awards and honours from professional bodies, associations, and civil society organisations in recognition of his leadership and contributions to the socio-economic development of the state.

The honours were presented on Wednesday during the 40th Kano State Executive Council Meeting held at the Council Chamber of the Government House, Kano.

According to a statement issued by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the awards acknowledge the administration’s achievements across key sectors, including healthcare, education, governance, youth development, and public service.

Among the honours was an Award of Excellence from the Association of Industrial Pharmacists of Nigeria (NAIP). The Governor also received the Award of Excellence in Enhancing the Quality of Life of Persons Living with Sickle Cell Disorder from the Sickle Cell Foundation of Nigeria.

Other organisations that recognised Governor Yusuf include the Kano State Dental Workers Union (KASDWU), National Health Fellows (Cohort 1.0), Kano State Pilots Association, ASCON Class of 2026, Kano State Lecturers’ Forum, National Leather and Products Association of Nigeria (NALPAN), Computer Society of Nigeria, and the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN), which conferred an Honorary Fellowship on him.

Additional honours came from the National Sustainability Achievers, Northern Youth Council, Kano Online Media, and the Forum of Kano DPEs and PROs, among others.

The Governor was also presented with a copy of Against All Odds, a book published in honour of the Governor of Lagos State.

Speaking after receiving the awards, Governor Yusuf thanked the organisations for recognising the efforts of his administration, describing the honours as a testament to the collective commitment of his team to delivering purposeful leadership and people-centred governance.

He said the recognitions would inspire his administration to remain committed to implementing policies and programmes that promote good governance, improve public service delivery, and accelerate the socio-economic development of Kano State.
