FRSC, NBA Kano Partner to Strengthen Rule of Law, Improve Road Safety Enforcement

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Kano Branch, have agreed to collaborate to strengthen the rule of law, enhance road safety enforcement, and improve the capacity of FRSC personnel.

The FRSC Corps Legal Adviser, Mrs. Olushola Ashonibare, disclosed this on Tuesday during a meeting between officials of the FRSC and the NBA at the FRSC Kano Command Headquarters.

Ashonibare said the engagement was aimed at fostering a stronger working relationship between the two organisations and promoting effective collaboration in the discharge of their respective responsibilities.

According to her, the partnership will enhance mutual understanding, improve institutional synergy, and strengthen cooperation between the FRSC and the NBA.

She noted that one of the key resolutions reached at the meeting was to collaborate on capacity-building programmes for FRSC personnel to enable them carry out their duties professionally and in strict compliance with the law.

“The FRSC is a creation of law and discharges its statutory responsibilities within the provisions of the law and due process,” she said.

Ashonibare added that the goal of the collaboration is to ensure that FRSC officers perform enforcement duties professionally while respecting the rights of citizens and operating strictly within the confines of the law.

She explained that the partnership would also enhance officers’ understanding of legal procedures, promote lawful enforcement, and improve professionalism in road safety operations across the country.

Speaking at the meeting, the Chairman of the NBA, Kano Branch, Mr. Sani Ammani, said the collaboration underscored the need for both organisations to operate within the boundaries of the law.

Ammani reaffirmed the NBA’s commitment to working closely with the FRSC to ensure strict adherence to the rule of law while protecting the rights of citizens.

He noted that lawful enforcement would boost public confidence in road safety operations and encourage greater compliance with traffic regulations and other legal provisions by road users.

The NBA chairman also pledged that the association would provide the necessary legal support whenever required to advance the objectives of the partnership.
