Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to making human capital development a central pillar of governance through sustained investment in education, skills acquisition, youth empowerment and job creation.
The Governor made the pledge on Wednesday while inaugurating the Inter-Agencies Taskforce on Drug Abuse and Trafficking at the Ante Chamber of the Government House in Kano.
According to a statement issued by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Governor Yusuf said the administration’s renewed focus on human capital development is aimed at equipping young people with the knowledge, practical skills and economic opportunities needed to become self-reliant and contribute meaningfully to the socio-economic development of the state.
He stressed that efforts to combat drug abuse and other social vices must go beyond enforcement by addressing their root causes through quality education, vocational training, entrepreneurship support and youth empowerment programmes.
The Governor noted that sustained investment in human capital would create employment and business opportunities for thousands of young people, reduce unemployment and idleness, discourage criminal activities and strengthen Kano State’s economy.
He maintained that no society can achieve sustainable development without investing in its people, describing a skilled, educated and economically empowered population as the foundation of his administration’s vision for a prosperous Kano.
Governor Yusuf also expressed appreciation to the people of the state for their continued support, cooperation and confidence in his administration, saying their solidarity remains a driving force behind the implementation of people-oriented policies and programmes.
He called on residents to continue supporting the government and praying for its success, assuring them of his administration’s unwavering commitment to implementing initiatives that promote inclusive development, expand opportunities for young people, stimulate economic growth and ensure lasting peace and prosperity across Kano State.
