The Kano State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reaffirmed its support for the presidential candidacy of former President Goodluck Jonathan, declaring its commitment to the decision reached by the party’s national leadership.

The state PDP Chairman, Yusuf Ado Kibiya, disclosed this on Monday while addressing journalists at the party’s secretariat in Kano.

Kibiya said the state chapter had reviewed the decision of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) regarding Jonathan’s candidacy and resolved to fully support the former president’s bid.

“The Kano PDP has reviewed the National Executive Committee’s decision regarding the presidential candidacy of former President Goodluck Jonathan and has resolved to support his candidacy,” he said.

He noted that the chapter respects the procedures and constitutional processes that led to the decision, stressing the importance of upholding the party’s internal democratic mechanisms at all levels.

“We acknowledge and respect the processes that led to this decision and affirm our support for the party leadership’s right to determine the PDP’s national direction within the framework of our constitution and legal guidelines,” Kibiya stated.

According to him, the Kano chapter remains committed to the broader goals and objectives of the PDP and will continue to engage stakeholders in efforts to strengthen the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“Our chapter remains aligned with the party’s broad objectives and will continue constructive engagement to advance the PDP’s mission across Kano State and Nigeria as a whole,” he added.

Kibiya also called on party members to remain united, disciplined, and focused on the collective aspirations of the PDP as preparations for future elections gather momentum.

He assured supporters that despite recent political realignments and defections in some quarters, the PDP in Kano remains united and determined to provide credible leadership and democratic alternatives for Nigerians.

The chairman further reiterated the party’s commitment to democratic values, accountability, and public service, expressing confidence that the PDP would continue to play a pivotal role in shaping Nigeria’s political future.
