A governorship aspirant for the Gumel/Maigatari/Gagarawa/Sule-Tankarkar Federal Constituency under the All Progressives Congress (APC), retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Usaini Gumel, has firmly denied claims that he has agreed to any consensus arrangement ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement addressed to his supporters, Gumel described reports circulating on some online platforms as “misleading and unfounded,” insisting that he has not accepted any outcome from a purported consensus process.

“As it stands, I have not received any official communication from the state leadership of our great party regarding the conclusion or outcome of consultations for selecting a candidate,” he stated.

The retired police chief reaffirmed his unwavering loyalty to the APC, emphasizing his commitment to the unity, stability, and overall success of the party at all levels.

“I remain fully committed to the ideals and progress of the APC. My focus is on strengthening the party and contributing to its success,” Gumel added.
He further stressed that any consensus arrangement in a democratic setting must be built on proper consultation, mutual agreement, and inclusiveness among stakeholders.

“Consensus should not be imposed. It must come through genuine dialogue, understanding, and engagement among all aspirants and party leaders,” he said.

Gumel also appealed to his supporters to remain calm, peaceful, and law-abiding while awaiting official clarification from the party.

“I urge all my supporters to remain steadfast and not be misled by rumours or misinformation. We must continue to conduct ourselves responsibly,” he advised.

He expressed gratitude to the people of Gumel, Gagarawa, Maigatari, and Sule Tankarkar for their continued support and confidence in his aspiration, assuring them of his dedication to the development of the constituency.

“I deeply appreciate your prayers, loyalty, and trust. I remain committed to delivering meaningful development and representation for our people,” Gumel said.
