Former Kano State Governor and Senator, Ibrahim Shekarau, has formally received his membership card of the All Progressives Congress (APC), marking his official return to the ruling party at the grassroots level in Kano State.
Shekarau disclosed this while addressing a large gathering of supporters during a visit to his constituency in Giginyu, where the symbolic presentation of the membership card took place.
The event attracted key political figures, including the Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, the Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, and other prominent party stakeholders, underscoring its significance in the state’s political scene.
Speaking at the ceremony, Shekarau expressed gratitude for the warm reception and support extended to him by party members.
He reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the APC, not only in Kano State but across the country.
“I appreciate the overwhelming support and solidarity shown to me. I am fully committed to contributing my quota to the growth and unity of our great party,” he said.
Shekarau noted that his return reflects the ongoing political realignments in Kano, describing the move as part of broader efforts to consolidate party structures and enhance political cooperation at all levels.
Observers say the development could reshape the political dynamics in the state, given Shekarau’s longstanding influence and political base.
The ceremony marked a significant milestone, as the former governor was officially welcomed into the APC fold at the grassroots, signaling a new chapter in Kano’s evolving political landscape.
