Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to preserving Kano’s rich cultural heritage during the Sallah festivities, as the Sunusi Lamido Sunusi II paid the traditional Eid homage at the Government House Kano.
The royal visit was part of activities marking this year’s Eid-el-Fitr celebrations and drew top government officials, traditional title holders, and members of the Emir’s entourage.
Speaking on behalf of the governor, the Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, Ismail Jibril Falgore, warmly received the Emir and described the event as a cherished cultural tradition symbolizing unity and heritage.
“It is my pleasure to warmly welcome Your Royal Highness, the Emir of Kano, and your esteemed entourage to this year’s Sallah, a cherished tradition that reflects our rich culture, heritage, and unity as a people,” Falgore said.
He conveyed the governor’s appreciation to residents for their continued cooperation and peaceful coexistence.
“I wish to extend my sincere greetings and appreciation to the good and peace-loving people of our dear state for your continuous support, cooperation, commitment, and peaceful coexistence.
Your steadfast support remains a pillar of strength for this administration,” he added.
Falgore urged citizens to maintain peace and act responsibly throughout the festive period.
“As we celebrate, I call on all citizens to avoid any action or behavior that could threaten the peace and stability of our dear state. Let us continue to uphold the values of tolerance, mutual respect, and harmonious coexistence regardless of our differences.”
He also advised parents and guardians to guide young people to remain law-abiding and conduct themselves responsibly during the celebrations.
Reassuring residents of government’s commitment to safety and development, the Speaker said adequate security measures had been put in place to protect lives and property.
“Let me assure you that this administration remains fully committed to the protection of lives and property. We have put in place adequate security measures while continuing to prioritize social development and the provision of critical infrastructure for the benefit of our people,” he stated.
In his remarks, Emir Sanusi II commended the Yusuf administration’s efforts in education and people-oriented development programmes across the state. He also called for peace and unity during the festivities.
“I call on all of us to continue to pray for the peace, unity, and progress of our dear state and the nation at large,” the Emir said.
