The Governor of Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has issued a stern warning to members of the State Executive Council against disloyalty, internal rivalry and the leaking of confidential government information.
The governor gave the warning during the 38th meeting of the State Executive Council held in Kano, where he urged cabinet members to remain committed to the vision and objectives of his administration.
Yusuf stressed that his government would not tolerate actions capable of undermining its programmes and policies.
“The era of rancour, disloyalty and activities that undermine government efforts must come to an end,” the governor said. “We must work together with sincerity and unity of purpose to deliver meaningful development to the people of Kano State.”
He emphasized the importance of teamwork within the council, noting that unity among members was critical to advancing development initiatives and improving the welfare of residents across the state.
The governor also explained that recent political and administrative developments influenced the decision by him and other stakeholders to align with the All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to him, the move followed wide consultations with members of the State Executive Council, lawmakers at both the state and national assemblies, as well as chairmen of the 44 local government areas.
“This decision was taken after extensive consultations and careful consideration of the best interest of Kano State,” Yusuf stated.
He further disclosed that five commissioners had resigned following the political realignment, adding that the government had accepted their resignations.
Yusuf also commended the support received from the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Progressive Governors Forum after the recent fire incident at the Singer Market in Kano which destroyed goods worth billions of naira.
