The Managing Director of the Hadejia-Jam’are River Basin Development Authority (HJRBDA), Alhaji Rabiu Bichi, on Friday formally received 774 former members of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) who defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rimin Gado Local Government Area.

Addressing the gathering, Bichi congratulated the defectors, describing them as “fortunate” for choosing what he called the right political path. He said the APC remains the only party with the capacity and vision to drive meaningful development across Nigeria.
He highlighted key projects executed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration in the northern region, noting that more than 18 major projects valued in billions of naira have been completed in Kano State alone.
Bichi also disclosed that the Federal Government has been releasing substantial development funds to state governments, but lamented that some states divert such resources into unrelated sectors.
According to him, the Renewed Hope Agenda is already yielding results in economic recovery, agricultural productivity, and national food security.
He assured the new APC members that they would be fully integrated and enjoy the same privileges as long-standing party members.
Speaking on behalf of the defectors, Mohammad Karofin Yashi said their decision to join the APC was inspired by the impressive development strides of the ruling party.
Yashi expressed confidence that the APC would lead Kano and Nigeria to greater progress and pledged to mobilize more NNPP members to join the party in the coming weeks.
