The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kano Council, has lauded the State Government for sponsoring the medical expenses of ace broadcaster and veteran journalist Mallam Lawan Isa Bagwai (LIB), who was recently involved in an accident on his way home from the office.
The commendation was contained in a statement, jointly signed Chairman of the Council, Comrade Suleiman Abdullahi Dederi, and Hauwa Sulaiman Zaharaddeen, Assistant Secretary of the Council respectively.
The statement explained that a fully funded medical treatment has been taken care of by the Office of the Director-General, Media and Publicity to the State Governor, Alhaji Sunusi Bature D/Tofa, noting that a sum of N2 million has been set aside to cover the treatment and admission expenses to be incurred.
According to the statement, Bagwai is presently admitted at the Prime Alliance Specialist hospital in Kano.
The statement added that the entire union stands with his family during these trying times and prays for his speedy recovery.
The Council called on all members to fervently pray for LIB, so that he may get back on his feet.
In the statement, the Council thanked the DG for his swipe response when he heard the news of the LIB’s accident and took a bold step in seeing to his recovery, “this ascertain brotherhood love and mutual understanding for one another in times of need.”
