Muhammad Garba Fulfils Pledge, Donates 50-Inch Smart TV to Kano Correspondents’ Chapel

Former President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Comrade Muhammad Garba, has fulfilled his pledge to the Kano Correspondents’ Chapel with the donation of a brand-new 50-inch Smart TV to the journalists’ body.

Garba, a former Kano State Commissioner for Information and former President of the West African Journalists Association, presented the television set to the leadership of the chapel on Saturday.

The donation followed a pledge he made during the unveiling and commissioning of the rebranded Kano Correspondents’ Chapel complex held recently.

Speaking at the presentation, Garba said the gesture was part of his commitment to initiatives designed to improve the working environment and welfare of journalists.

He also expressed appreciation to the leadership and members of the chapel for the confidence reposed in him, assuring that he would continue to support programmes aimed at strengthening journalism and journalists in Kano State.

According to him, the television was intended to enhance the chapel’s facilities and provide members with an avenue to monitor current affairs while engaging in professional activities.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the chapel, its Chairman, Murtala Adewale, commended Garba for keeping his word.

Adewale described the gesture as a demonstration of integrity and genuine commitment to the development of journalism.

“We are grateful to Comrade Muhammad Garba for this generous gesture.

What makes it more significant is that this was a promise he made during the unveiling and commissioning of this complex, and today he has fulfilled that promise,” Adewale said.

He added: “This demonstrates that he is a man of his word and someone who genuinely believes in supporting journalists and the institutions that bring them together.”

The chairman said the television would be put to effective use, particularly to keep members abreast of important national and international developments.

He noted that the chapel had continued to receive support from individuals and organisations towards improving its facilities, describing the gestures as encouragement for the leadership to do more.

Members of the chapel who witnessed the presentation also commended Garba for fulfilling his pledge.

The donation comes as the Kano Correspondents’ Chapel continues efforts to reposition its facilities and create a more conducive environment for professional activities, interaction and capacity development among journalists.
