The Kano State Police Command has launched a statewide sensitisation campaign on traffic regulations, warning motorists and other road users that strict enforcement will follow to curb traffic violations, reduce road crashes, and protect lives and property across the state.

In a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the police said the awareness campaign is aimed at educating road users on the importance of complying with traffic laws before the commencement of full enforcement.

The Command urged motorists, commercial drivers, tricycle operators, motorcyclists, and pedestrians to obey all traffic regulations during the sensitisation period, stressing that violators will be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law once enforcement begins.

The police also commended the Kano State Government for its sustained investment in road construction and rehabilitation, noting that residents have a responsibility to complement these efforts by using the roads responsibly and adhering to traffic rules to ensure safety and orderliness.

Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property through effective traffic management.

He called on transport unions, traditional and religious leaders, the media, civil society organisations, and other stakeholders to support the campaign, emphasizing that ensuring road safety is a shared responsibility.
