Former Abia State Governor and Senator representing Abia North, Orji Uzor Kalu, has praised Sokoto State Governor Ahmad Aliyu for what he described as impactful development projects aimed at improving the welfare of residents and accelerating the state’s socio-economic growth.
Kalu made the commendation on Thursday during a dinner hosted in his honour by Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko at his Gawon Nama residence in Sokoto as part of his two-day visit to the state.
According to the former governor, the ongoing infrastructure projects across Sokoto are clear evidence of purposeful leadership and a commitment to delivering dividends of democracy to the people.
He also lauded Senator Wamakko for his dedication and exemplary conduct in the National Assembly, describing him as a disciplined and dependable leader whose commitment to public service should serve as a model for other political office holders.
Kalu expressed appreciation to the government and people of Sokoto State for the warm reception accorded him during the visit. He noted that his long-standing relationship with Wamakko is founded on mutual respect, national unity and a shared vision for Nigeria’s progress.
The senator urged Nigerians to remain united and committed to preserving the country’s peace, stability and development, stressing that Nigeria remains a common heritage that must be protected by all citizens.
He also called on Nigerians to continue supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration and its re-election bid in 2027, while encouraging Sokoto residents to sustain their support for Governor Aliyu’s government.
Speaking on behalf of Governor Aliyu, the Minister of Labour and Employment, Muhammad Maigari Dingyadi, commended Senator Wamakko for hosting the reception and thanked Kalu for honouring the invitation.
Dingyadi said Kalu’s visit to Sokoto and his participation in the commissioning of projects underscored the cordial relationship among political leaders and their collective commitment to national development.
The dinner was attended by Governor Ahmad Aliyu, Senator Wamakko, former Deputy Governor Mukhtar Shehu Shagari, Minister Muhammad Maigari Dingyadi, the Speaker of the Sokoto State House of Assembly, the Secretary to the State Government, the Chief of Staff, the Head of Service, commissioners, federal and state lawmakers, party leaders and other dignitaries.
