Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State have formally endorsed Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf as the party’s sole governorship candidate for the 2027 general elections, following the purchase of his expression of interest and nomination forms.

The decision was announced during a high-level stakeholders’ meeting in Kano, where party leaders unanimously reaffirmed their confidence in the governor’s leadership and performance.

In a statement issued on Friday, the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mustapha Muhammad, described the move as “a collective and strategic decision by party stakeholders to adopt Governor Yusuf as a consensus candidate ahead of the 2027 elections.”

Presenting the forms on behalf of the stakeholders, former APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, said the action was in fulfilment of an earlier agreement within the party.

“We have already agreed that you are our sole governorship candidate, and in order to actualise that promise, I hereby present these two important forms to you — the expression of interest form and the nomination form — for completion and submission,” Ganduje stated.

Stakeholders noted that the purchase of the forms demonstrates their commitment to strengthening party unity and consolidating on the developmental strides recorded under the current administration.

They further emphasised that adopting a consensus candidate would ensure “stability, cohesion, and a seamless electoral process” as the 2027 polls approach.

Responding, Governor Yusuf expressed appreciation for the endorsement, describing it as a call to greater service.

“I am deeply honoured by this show of confidence. I remain committed to inclusive governance, people-oriented policies, and the continued development of Kano State,” the governor said.

The Kano State Government also commended the stakeholders for their support, urging party members to remain united in advancing the state’s progress and prosperity.
