The Kano State Police Command has disbursed a total of ₦1 million in financial support to 36 reformed youths as part of efforts to strengthen community-based crime prevention and promote sustainable reintegration.
The initiative, which took place on April 13, 2026, at the State Police Headquarters in Bompai, Kano, aligns with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, to adopt proactive and community-driven strategies in tackling crime.

The cash support, donated by philanthropist Alhaji Baffa Babba Dan Agundi, is aimed at helping vulnerable youths transition into productive and law-abiding lifestyles through investment in small businesses and trades.
Speaking during the disbursement, the Commissioner of Police in Kano State, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, urged beneficiaries to utilize the funds judiciously by reinvesting in their existing ventures rather than spending on non-essential items.

“The most important thing is discipline and reinvestment. No amount is too small to grow if you are committed,” Bakori said.
He noted that many of the beneficiaries had abandoned criminal activities and were now gainfully engaged in trades, with some having established families.

Stakeholders at the event commended the initiative and pledged continued support. The Chairman of the Kano State Council of Ulama, Sheikh Ibrahim Khalil, described the programme as impactful and announced plans to make an additional personal donation. He encouraged the youths to become positive representatives of their communities.
Representing the donor, Hon. Nasiru Usman Na’ibawa reaffirmed Alhaji Dan Agundi’s commitment to sustained youth empowerment.
Also present were the Chairman of AMG Foundation, Dr. Aminu Garba Magashi, and the Executive Director of YOSPIS, Zainab Naseer Ahmad, who both applauded the initiative and reiterated their dedication to youth development and community safety.
One of the beneficiaries, Chile Mai Doki, shared his transformation story, revealing that he once lived in hiding and slept in a cemetery before choosing a new path. He expressed gratitude to the police and his family for giving him a second chance.
“My father encouraged me to honour the police invitation and assured me that I would be safe if I changed my ways,” he said.
CP Bakori reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to community policing and called on individuals, corporate organisations, and philanthropists to support similar initiatives through training, tools, and employment opportunities.
He also appreciated the Kano State Government under Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for providing an enabling environment, particularly through the Safe Corridor Initiative.
The Police Command emphasized that with sustained collaboration between government, private sector, and communities, crime can be reduced while empowering youths to build a better future.
