The Managing Director of the Hadejia-Jama’are River Basin Development Authority (H-JRBDA), Rabi’u Suleiman Bichi, has led a team of engineers and senior officials on an assessment tour of Akama and Fandai communities in Jahun Local Government Area of Jigawa State.

The visit followed a formal complaint submitted by the Jahun Initiative and Consultative Forum over persistent flooding and erosion threatening the two communities.

Speaking with journalists after the inspection on Thursday in Kano, Bichi reaffirmed the authority’s commitment to addressing flooding and erosion in all areas under its jurisdiction. He stressed that Akama and Fandai fall fully within the H-JRBDA’s operational mandate.

“We will work closely with the local government to deliver timely and sustainable interventions,” he assured the residents.

The delegation was received by the Executive Chairman of Jahun LGA, Jamilu Muhammad Dan Malam, who praised the authority for responding promptly to the community’s concerns.

Bichi later met with Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi, to review ongoing drainage and erosion-control projects across the state.

During his return trip, the H-JRBDA chief also inspected sections of the Lagos-Kano-Dutse-Katsina-Maradi railway corridor, describing it as a transformative project under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the railway line is expected to significantly enhance trade and strengthen food security across the northern corridor once completed.
