The Nigerian Association of Small Scale Industrialists (NASSI), Kano Chapter, has lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing Engr. Ramat Garba Abdullahi as Chairman of the National Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).
In a statement signed by Muhammad Sadiq, spokesperson of Singer Market, the association described the appointment as a demonstration of President Tinubu’s commitment to economic reform, energy sector revitalization, and the empowerment of small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
Sadiq expressed confidence that Engr. Abdullahi’s leadership would usher in a new era of transparency in tariff regulation, improved consumer protection, and greater electricity access for businesses across Nigeria.
“Engr. Abdullahi embodies technical excellence, administrative discipline, and patriotic service,” the statement read. “His decades of experience in the energy sector and his reputation for fairness and efficiency make him the right person to drive reform at NERC.”
NASSI called on the National Assembly to expedite the confirmation process, describing the appointment as a strategic move aligned with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. The group urged lawmakers to view the nomination not just as an administrative decision, but as a vital investment in Nigeria’s economic stability and industrial growth.
The association also extended appreciation to Vice President Kashim Shettima and the Federal Executive Council for their support of the administration’s economic transformation agenda.
Reaffirming its confidence in Engr. Abdullahi, NASSI urged him to lead with integrity and inclusivity, reminding him that millions of Nigerians particularly small business owners are looking up to him to deliver reliable and affordable electricity.
“With Engr. Abdullahi at the helm of NERC, we are optimistic that the power sector will experience renewed investor confidence, strengthened regulation, and enhanced power supply for SMEs nationwide,” NASSI added.
