The President of Guinea-Bissau, Umarou Embaló, has conferred the country’s highest national distinction, ‘Gold Medal of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau’, on Gov. Abba Yusuf of Kano State.
This is contained in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Sunusi Dawakin-Tofa in Kano on Saturday.
The award was presented by Guinea-Bissau’s Minister of Defence, Mr Donisio Cabi, on behalf of Embaló, during a ceremony at the Government House in Kano.
Yusuf expressed appreciation for the honour, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to educational cooperation and African solidarity.
The award recognised the Governor’s exemplary leadership and commitment to African unity through education and human capital development.
The Guinea-Bissau minister praised the governor’s gesture of offering 50 scholarship slots to students from his country, describing it as a symbol of visionary leadership and solidarity.
