Hundreds of members of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) from Fagge and Ungogo Local Government Areas of Kano State have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), pledging their loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration and its progressive vision.

The defectors were received on Tuesday by the Managing Director of the Hadejia-Jam’are River Basin Development Authority, Engr. Rabiu Suleiman Bichi, who described the mass defection as a reflection of the growing trust Nigerians have in the APC-led government.

Bichi noted that more Nigerians were joining the ruling party due to its development-driven policies, adding that the recent defection of some state governors to the APC further demonstrated the party’s national appeal and strength.

He assured the new members of equal opportunity and full integration, emphasizing that no one would be sidelined. According to him, the Federal Government under President Tinubu has introduced far-reaching initiatives to promote food security and stimulate economic growth.

Highlighting the contributions of his agency, Bichi explained that the Hadejia-Jam’are River Basin Development Authority had adopted modern irrigation techniques in line with the President’s food security agenda and efforts to boost agricultural productivity.

In a goodwill message, former APC National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, represented by the Kano State APC Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas, applauded the defectors for their decision, assuring them that they would not regret joining the party.

Similarly, the Kano Central APC Chairman, Alhaji Shehu Aliyu Ungogo, who represented Abbas at the event, said President Tinubu’s economic policies had restored public confidence and revived the nation’s economy.

Some of the defectors told journalists that they were inspired by the APC’s developmental achievements and its commitment to improving citizens’ welfare. They expressed optimism that their defection would strengthen the party’s grassroots base and contribute to its success in future elections.
