By Editor The Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has been honoured with the Education Ambassador Award by the Independent Newspaper for his exceptional contributions to the education sector.
In a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ibrahim Addra, the newspaper’s board said the recognition was based on Governor Sule’s outstanding performance in investment, advocacy, and promotion of child education in Nasarawa State.
It also commended the Governor for expanding access to education, improving quality, and promoting skills-driven learning across the state.
Governor Sule was represented at the award ceremony by the Commissioner for Education, John Mamman, during the Independent Newspaper’s Platinum Jubilee Celebration marking 70 years of Free Basic Education in Nigeria, held in Lagos.
Mamman, who received the award on behalf of the Governor, expressed appreciation to the newspaper’s leadership for recognising Governor Sule’s visionary leadership and steadfast commitment to human capital development.
He reaffirmed the administration’s resolve to continue prioritising education as a vital tool for empowerment and progress.
The event, chaired by elder statesman Chief Bisi Akande, attracted prominent Nigerians, including Professor Uche Azikiwe, wife of the late Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe; former ministers Barth Nnaji, Otunba Runsewe, and Lai Mohammed. Others were the grandchildren of the late Sardauna of Sokoto, Sir Ahmadu Bello; veteran broadcaster Danladi Bako; and UBEC Executive Secretary, Aisha Garba.
