Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has paid a courtesy visit to the new World Bank Country Director for Nigeria, Mr. Mathew Verghis, to reaffirm the state’s commitment to continuous partnership for sustainable development.
The visit at the World Bank Nigeria Country Office in Abuja Wednesday provided an opportunity for the Governor to engage the new Country Director on areas of enhanced collaboration.Governor Radda welcomed the Country Director to Nigeria and expressed optimism about advancing sustainable economic development through strategic partnerships.
“We are pleased to have you in Nigeria and look forward to deepening our collaboration in critical sectors such as education, water supply, food security, livelihood skills, women empowerment, energy, technology, and other developmental initiatives,” the Governor stated.
Responding, Mr. Verghis commended Katsina State for its exemplary work in ensuring speedy implementation of World Bank-supported interventions.
“We deeply appreciate the good work Katsina State is doing in ensuring speedy implementation of many interventions, especially the delivery mechanisms put in place by the government, which are already yielding results through many rewards recently earned by the state,” Mr. Verghis stated.
The Country Director specifically congratulated Katsina State for recently earning $20.18 million and ₦18.7 billion for SABER and TESS Projects respectively, describing the achievements as a testament to the state’s commitment to quality project execution.
He assured Katsina State of the World Bank’s continuous support and enhanced funding from grants to optimize the achievement of desired results for the citizens of the state.
The Governor and the Country Director agreed on harmonious partnership and coordination of the Northwest region, leveraging Governor Radda’s position as Chairman of the Northwest Governors’ Forum.
