The Honourable Commissioner of the Kano State Ministry of Women Affairs, Children and People with Special Needs, Amb. Amina Abdullahi Sani HOD, paid a working visit to the Female Vendors’ (Nono Sellers) Market along Zaria Road, Kano.
The visit aimed to assess conditions at the market and explore ways to improve the environment for the women conducting business there.
As part of the ministry’s commitment to women’s economic empowerment, the Commissioner announced plans to introduce “training sessions on hygienic milk handling, product preparation, and preservation techniques“.
She emphasized that empowering the women vendors with practical skills will not only improve their livelihoods but also ensure safer products for public consumption.
She stated that, His Excellency, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, is fully aware of the condition of the women vendors and has expressed his strong commitment to supporting them through empowerment initiatives, improved facilities, and business development opportunities.
She assured them that the government is not only listening but ready to act.
In her words: “His Excellency is committed to changing your situation for the better.
Your contribution to the economy is recognized, and you will be supported to grow and thrive.”
The Honourable Commissioner was accompanied by directors from the Ministry, showing institutional support and the government’s united resolve to improve the lives of grassroots women in informal trade.
