The Kano State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KSCHMA) has strengthened its commitment to expanding quality healthcare access with the successful hosting of its Third Quarter 2025 Engagement Meeting with Stakeholders of Public Health Facilities, held at Bon Hotel, Nasarawa GRA, Kano.
The meeting brought together stakeholders from public health facilities and development partners to review progress, share insights, and explore innovative approaches to drive the contributory healthcare agenda.Declaring the meeting open, the Executive Secretary of KSCHMA, Dr. Rahila Aliyu Muktar, represented by the Director of Administration, Amina Sani Usman, emphasized the Agency’s mission, stating:
“Our vision is to build a sustainable healthcare financing system that guarantees equity and access for all residents of Kano State. This engagement is not just a meeting but a platform for collaboration, innovation, and accountability in driving universal health coverage.”
The engagement was designed to achieve key objectives, including:Strengthening partnerships between KSCHMA and public healthcare facilities for quality service delivery under the Kano State Contributory Healthcare Scheme.
Outlining the roles and responsibilities of Desk Officers in enhancing healthcare operations.Sharing updates on KSCHMA programmes, notably the Student Contributory Health Programme (SCHEP).Exploring innovations to improve healthcare provision, with emphasis on referral systems and claims management.Delivering goodwill messages, the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) and NHIA commended KSCHMA’s leadership in healthcare digitalization, claims management, and inclusive contributory programmesTechnical sessions featured presentations on the role of Desk Officers, an overview of SCHEP, data management in claims, and an introduction to KSCHMA’s Primary Services Digitalization Portal, delivered in partnership with Exaro.
The highlight of the day was a hands-on training session, equipping participants with practical skills to operate the digitalized portal for primary healthcare services.Interactive discussions and Q&A sessions allowed participants to share experiences, challenges, and recommendations, further enriching the engagement.
The event concluded with stakeholders pledging stronger collaboration with KSCHMA to ensure healthcare in Kano remains accessible, affordable, and sustainable for all residents.
