Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, says the Nigerian Armed Forces are winning the war against terrorism, banditry, assuring citizens that his administration is relentlessly strengthening measures to enhance national security.
The President on Wednesday in his nationwide broadcast on the 65th Independence Anniversary message to Nigerians, said peace has returned to hundreds of liberated communities in the North-West and North-East, with thousands of displaced citizens safely resettled in their homes.
“We are working diligently to enhance national security, ensuring our economy experiences improved growth and performance. The officers and men of our armed forces and other security agencies are working tirelessly and making significant sacrifices to keep us safe.”
President Tinubu noted that the sacrifices and resilience of the officers and men of the Nigerian Armed Forces and other security agencies are evident in the ongoing successes recorded against Boko Haram insurgency in the North-East, Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB/ Eastern Security Network ESN militancy in the South-East, as well as banditry and kidnapping.
“They are winning the war against terrorism, banditry and other violent crimes. We see their victories in their blood and sweat to stamp out Boko Haram Terror in North-East, IPOB/ESN terror in South East and banditry and kidnapping.
“We must continue to celebrate their gallantry and salute their courage on behalf of a grateful nation. Peace has returned to hundreds of our liberated communities in North-West and North-East, and thousands of our people have returned safely to their homes.”
The President assured Nigerians that his administration will continue to work to strengthen national unity and build a more perfect union where every Nigerian can find inclusion, purpose, and fulfilment.
