Kano Correspondents Chapel Partner Nigerian Security Agencies, Others For Solution Journalism

Officials of the Kano Correspondents Chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalists have announced plans to co- host a summit on Solution Journalism with the Nigerian Security Agencies.

The Chairman of the media group, Murtala Adewale, who spoke in Kano at a ‘Tea Break’ organized by the body, disclosed that final arrangements are being explored for the conference.

The “Tea Break” was an initiative designed to create light social platform for members to unwind and rob minds, after the day’s hectic job, before departing to meet their families.Murtala Adewale said the Nigerian Security agencies officials have expressed interest in offering a role that would change the thinking in the media space.

Mr. Adewale stated that Solution Journalism inspires positive change in response to societal problems, stressing that it also provides actionable insights into the malaise.He explained that the time is ripe for “Constructive storytelling that emphasizes positive outcomes, as well as lessons learned and potential for replication.

”The Chairman stressed that “Innovative policy solutions should balance critical reporting with constructive narratives, while examining the strategies, challenges, and successes of solutions.”

In a speech at the ceremony, Dr. Sule Ya’u Sule, an Associate Professor of Strategic Communication at Bayero University, Kano (BUK), urged journalists to work in unity and fraternity for effective dissemination of information, ensuring public good and national development.

Sule Ya’u Sule said “social gatherings of journalists in a relaxed atmosphere provide a window for them to unwind and derive professional intimacy that keeps the ink flowing.”
